Okay, when it comes to equipment, I believe that the choice is really up to what company or brand you like the most. You should remember that some manufactures build some type of equipment to complement each other.
I believe when you're looking for a sound system you should take into consideration the types of venues you want to cater too.
I now use the Bose L1™ Systems with the ToneMatch... (awesome) and the sound I get is unbelievable. I use this system to play for audiences of 1 to 500.
You can also check you what I was using before. Yorkville MP8DX, TL12 and NX200S. Just one top and sub proved to be more than adequate for most of my gigs.
Although this sounds like lots for small gigs, I have found that I can get a better sound using a sub than just running the tops of most equipment and pushing the bass up on the EQ or channels.
